HCCDC works to secure proposed Tuggerah redevelopment

The Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) is broadening its reach in the Central Coast with a seat at the table to explore options for the delivery of a proposed redevelopment of Tuggerah Westfield and Town Centre.

The exciting proposal by the Scentre Group would transform the town centre and deliver more than 10,000 jobs, new dwellings, a transport interchange, 18 hectares of parkland as well as health and education precincts.

HCCDC Chief Operating Officer Valentina Misevska said HCCDC’s role would be important in identifying community outcomes.

“HCCDC is joining the Scentre Group and Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council (Darkinjung) in a Heads of Agreement to explore potential delivery options over the next six months before reporting back to Government.

“We are pleased to be at the table to help influence a positive outcome for the region that benefits local people.”

HCCDC has significant experience working with multiple stakeholders across government on major urban revitalisation projects.

“We certainly believe the proposal would transform Tuggerah and help local people find local jobs, as well as have more housing options and improved amenity to choose from.

“It also helps deliver what the people on the Central Coast have been crying out for – better public transport connectivity and options to work closer to home.

“We know lifestyle is already great on the Coast, but this proposal takes it to the next level and is a major boon for the Tuggerah town centre.”

The Heads of Agreement will allow HCCDC to share its expertise in another area of the Central Coast, with the government agency increasingly involved in major transformation projects in the region.

“On Monday, we unveiled designs for a $10million regional play space in Gosford’s Leagues Club Field, which has real potential to attract more people into the city and build confidence and momentum for the city’s transformation,” Ms Misevska said.

“These are exciting times and we look forward to having a pivotal role in unlocking opportunities to create better outcomes for local people – more homes, better connections, vibrant spaces and increased job opportunities.”
