Other projects

HCCDC is recognised for its planning and development expertise.

The organisation works in collaboration with many partners to plan and deliver significant projects that will improve how people live, work and travel around the Hunter and Central Coast regions.

In Newcastle, HCCDC is currently working with a range of partners and landowners to plan for the Broadmeadow recreation precinct to be redeveloped into a premier sport and recreation destination.

In Gosford, HCCDC is collaborating with agencies, council and others to create a Regional Play Space in the Leagues Club Park. This is an exciting opportunity for a tangible community benefit in the heart of the city.

In the past, partnerships with the private sector and other Government agencies have delivered important community projects - Newcastle's Anzac Memorial Walk is a stunning example of this.

Anzac Memorial Walk

This 450-metre cliff top walk stretches along the spectacular Newcastle coastline from Strezlecki Lookout to Bar Beach. The project was a combined effort of the private sector, NSW and local governments, with HCCDC providing project management services to the Memorial Walk Trust.

The walk is a memorial to both the Gallipoli landing in 1915 and the commencement of steelmaking in Newcastle the same year - featuring 3859 family names of almost 11,000 known Hunter Valley men and women who served during the Great War.

BHP Billiton contributed $3 million to the project and Newcastle City Council $1.5 million.
