Local company to help upgrade Mount Penang

23 Feb 2022

A Tuggerah-based construction company will start essential road works at Mount Penang Parklands next month, set to ease traffic congestion, support future investment and activity, and create local jobs.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Adam Crouch said that Bolte Civil will be undertaking the works, part of the $3.2 million project to create a new public road along Mount Penang’s Baxter Track.

“Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) is managing this important stage of works in Mount Penang, and I’m glad to see Government once again tapping into our skilled local workforce,” Mr Crouch said.

“Bolte is also encouraging diversity in their workforce on the site through targeted employment of local women and Aboriginal people.

“This follows on from previous works at Mount Penang where Bolte created an Aboriginal apprenticeship, which resulted in ongoing employment with the company for a young local worker.

“They are also implementing a five-day work week for these works, creating a healthier work-life balance for the team.”

Baxter Track is an unsealed road in the north of the Parklands that connects to Kangoo Road. The project includes converting it to a paved public road with shared pedestrian and cycling paths, as well as planting more than 50 new native trees.

The works follow earlier stages of sewer, road, water and electrical works completed in late-2020, and will help make getting about the Parklands easier than ever.

“NSW Government has made a $16 million commitment to improving infrastructure in Mount Penang and these works – marking $7 million spent so far – show that we are continuing to deliver”

“We’re laying the foundation for a thriving precinct that will provide social and economic benefits for the Central Coast for decades to come.”

Works are expected to start in early-March and continue until late-2022.

HCCDC and Bolte will work with Mount Penang business and education tenants to minimize disruption to Parklands visitors and neighbours.
