HCCDC transformed the former Civic Railway Station into an accessible community space providing pedestrian connections with the CBD, university, museum and Honeysuckle restaurant precinct.

HCCDC has delivered significant restoration works to Newcastle's historic railway station building, enabling adaptive re-use of the former transport site.

HCCDC maintains 3km of seawall infrastructure along Honeysuckle promenade. In 2020 we completed rebuilding the 75 year old seawalls to underpin new public domain.

HCCDC completed major infrastructure upgrades to Mount Penang Parklands in 2023. The $16-million works have enhanced visitor experience and will support future activity in the Parklands.

HCCDC's award-winning play space was completed in 2021 providing a ‘wild play’ parkland featuring indigenous design.

HCCDC has delivered $12-million in road infrastructure upgrades on Honeysuckle Drive including road improvements, a new bridge, footpaths and cycleways.

The process to identify a long-term operator to lead The Station's future restoration and activation is underway.
