The huge community piazza has plenty of space to scoot and play

Play in the kids corner, cool off on the misting tracks, and scoot and skate on the outdoor platform.

A unique meeting place

An interpretive tribute to local First People's relationship with the land and harbour

 The 'fire pit' glows red after dark, surrounded by boomerang seating reflecting tide lines, aquatic food sources and land animals.

The Flyer Train at The Station

All aboard 'The Flyer'

Interactive installation honoring the iconic Newcastle Flyer express steam train

The public artwork includes lighting, interactive sounds and train-style seating as a tribute to the special service The Flyer provided for the people of the region from  from 1929 until 1970.

Scavenger hunts



Explore The Station and nearby Museum Park on a self-guided scavenger hunt!

The hunts encourage exploration and play, revealing hidden gems about the unique history of the former railway station's by uncovering clues and solving mystery phrases.

The hunts are free and accessible open-air activities that will keep the kids (and grown-ups) entertained.

Award-winning revitalisation


HCCDC's transformation of The Station from a retired railway precinct into a thriving community hub had been delivered as part of NSW Government's Revitalising Newcastle program.
